The coronavirus pandemic has caused scientific cooperation to be greatly limited, especially internationally. So far, we have delayed conferences for more and more distant dates, but we no longer believe that the traditional large congresses will be carried out in their old form in the coming years. We need to organize our cooperation in a new way, making greater use of distance communication. We propose not to wait another months and we invite you to participate in the International Electronic Conference on Soil Science organised by the Department of Soil Science and Land Protection at the Poznań University of Life Sciences. Inspired by the upcoming the World Soil Day we would like to invite scientists from different countries to share their experiences regarding research in soil science. The event will be an excellent platform to integrate the soil science community and to initiate a multidimensional discussion based on personal experiences and observations. The conference will be focus on issues broadly related to soil science research, including among others problems of soil biodiversity protection, maintenance of soil health ecosystems, the importance of soil in the development of our civilization as well as the role of soil in climate change.
Additionally, in view of the current pandemic situation caused by COVID – 19, we would like to initiate discussions on possible limitations and difficulties in continuing laboratory and field works, and whether this completely unfavorable situation can become an inspiration and a challenge to undertake research in new thematic areas. It is our hope that this meeting will boost the exchange of ideas and provide an occasion to further integrate the international community of soil scientists.
The conference will be held on the ZOOM platform. In parallel to the presentations on the ZOOM platform, there will be online streaming on the YouTube channel on 4th December 2020 r.
